Tenerife Airport

The airport is sited in the south of Tenerife, within easy distance of the west coast resorts, but 40 miles (60km) southwest of Santa Cruz.

Car Parking

Short- and long-term parking is available. The first half hour or less is free.

Car Rental

Car rental companies represented at the airport include Avis, Hertz, Europcar, Cicar and Record.

City Transfers

Most tour operators arrange transport from the airport. For those that don't, there are regular buses to Santa Cruz, Los Cristianos and other towns and resorts on the island. Taxis are also available.

Facilities

Facilities at the airport include restaurants, bars, shops, ATMs, a bank, post office, children's play area and currency exchange facilities. Disabled facilities are adequate; those with special needs are advised to contact their airline or travel agent in advance.

Language

Spanish is the official language, but English is widely understood in areas frequented by tourists. Catalan, Galician and Basque are spoken in the relevant areas.

Money

Spain's official currency is the Euro (EUR). One Euro is divided into 100 cents. Money can be exchanged at bureaux de change and major hotels, but banks give the best rates. All major credit cards and travellers cheques are widely accepted at most hotels, restaurants, and shops. ATMs are widespread and are generally the cheapest and most convenient method of obtaining money.

Local time is GMT +1 (GMT +2 between the last Sunday in March and the Saturday before the last Sunday in October). The Canary Islands: GMT (GMT +1 in summer).
