Chamarel

A tiny village with a population of roughly 700, Chamarel is located in the southwest of Mauritius. The town is famous for one thing: the Seven Coloured Earth, a remarkable natural phenomenon of many-coloured striped sand dunes. Chamarel has a few other attractions however, including the stunning Chamarel Falls, and the many sights of nearby Black River Gorge National Park. A relatively new attraction is the Chamarel Adventure Park, perfect for those in search of an adrenaline rush. Chamarel itself offers little in the way of urban attractions, with few dining or shopping opportunities and no nightlife, and is better-suited to tourists who wanting to enjoy the beautiful nature of Mauritius.
