Official taxi booths are located in the arrival terminal, also where a host of unofficial taxi drivers vie for business with varying prices. Metered taxi's cost about Rp 30, 000 although extra may be charged for toll road fees. Depending on traffic the 12 miles (20km) trip to the city centre will take between 30 and 45 minutes.

Short and long term parking is available.

Avis, Hertz and Europcar are represented at the airport, along with a number of local car rental companies.

Shuttle buses run hourly to the city centre and various other destinations in and around Jakarta. Taxis are metered and cost around Rp 30, 000 to the city; note that road tolls may be added to the fare.

Facilities are limited but the airport is clean and the staff are friendly and efficient. There are shops, banks, bars and restaurants, and tourist information and hotel reservations at the airport. There are facilities for disabled travellers; passengers with special needs are advised to inform their airline in advance.

Bahasa Indonesia is the official language, but many dialects are spoken. English is widely understood in Jakarta and tourist resorts.

Rupiah (IDR) is the official currency and is divided into 100 sen. Foreign currency can easily be exchanged at banks, hotels and money changers in major tourist destinations; US dollars is the most accepted currency. Cash often yields a better exchange rate than travellers cheques, which are not always accepted. It is recommended that travellers cheques also be in US dollars. Most major credit cards are accepted at hotels, restaurants and stores catering to the tourist trade. ATMs are available in main centres. Small change is often unavailable so keep small denomination notes and coins for items like bus fares, temple donations and cool drinks.

A free bus connects the two terminals.
