Salamanca Market
This weekly market takes place every Saturday morning between
8.30am and 3pm, come rain or shine, and is one of Hobart's best
loved markets and a tourist attraction in itself. Travellers can
enjoy shopping here for everything from locally grown organic fruit
and vegetables and freshly-cut flowers to fine Tasmanian arts and
crafts and an array of bric-a-brac. The markets are situated along
Salamanca Place, the cultural hub of Hobart, where the old
sandstone Georgian warehouses house galleries, theatres, cafes,
craft shops and restaurants. This is the perfect place to kick off
your weekend when travelling in Hobart.

Money
The Australian Dollar (AUD) is divided into 100 cents. Banks and
bureaux de change exchange most foreign currencies. Travellers
cheques are also welcome everywhere, but banks take a small
commission and it is better to take cheques in major currencies
(e.g. US dollars or Euros) to avoid additional charges. Credit
cards are widely accepted and ATMs are freely available throughout
the country. Banking hours are generally 9.30am to 4pm Monday to
Thursday, and 9.30am to 5pm on Friday, but some banks offer
extended hours and some are open on Saturday mornings.
Opening Times
