The airport is situated on the east coast of the island, 10 miles (16 km) south of Las Palmas.

Information & Facts

Airport Taxis

Taxis are available at the airport outside the terminal buildings. Taxi fares to Playa del Ingles and San Agustin are approximately EUR25, while fares to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria are EUR30 and it will cost between EUR36 and EUR40 for a taxi from Gran Canaria Aiport to Maspalomas, Puerto Rico and Arguineguin/Patalavaca. Taxis to Puerto de Mogan generally start at EUR50.

Car Parking

Short- and long-term parking is available.

Car Rental

Alamo, Avis, Dollar, Europcar, Hertz and National are all represented in or near the airport.

City Transfers

Most tour operators arrange transport for their clients. For those that don't, there is a taxi rank at the airport and frequent bus services between to Las Palmas and other towns on the island.

Facilities

Facilities at the airport include bureaux de change, ATMs, a post office, a children's play area and a wide variety of shops, bars and restaurants. Disabled facilities are good; those with special needs are advised to contact their airline in advance.

Language

Spanish is the official language, but English is widely understood in areas frequented by tourists. Catalan, Galician and Basque are spoken in the relevant areas.

Money

Spain's official currency is the Euro (EUR). One Euro is divided into 100 cents. Money can be exchanged at bureaux de change and major hotels, but banks give the best rates. All major credit cards and travellers cheques are widely accepted at most hotels, restaurants, and shops. ATMs are widespread and are generally the cheapest and most convenient method of obtaining money.

Local time is GMT +1 (GMT +2 between the last Sunday in March and the Saturday before the last Sunday in October). The Canary Islands: GMT (GMT +1 in summer).
