Our Escorted Holiday Itinerary for Malta,

15-22 October 2015

 

Day 1 : 15 October 2015

Depart Dublin on a Ryanair flight at 18.40. On arrival in Malta Airport, you will be met by our local guide and taken to our hotel, The Dolmen Resort Hotel.  
 

 

Day 2 : 16 October 2015

After breakfast meet with our guide and depart on a tour to Malta’s sister island of Gozo. After a twenty-minute crossing, on setting foot in Gozo you will notice that although both islands are similar in history and development Gozo has a character entirely of its own. Gozo, which is a three hilled island, is greener and more picturesque that Malta. During this excursion, we visit the temples of Ggantija, the citadel of Victoria, the bay of Xlendi, and the Azur Window at Dwejra. Free time for shopping will also be given – Gozo is renowned for its woolen goods and handmade lace. Return to our hotel for evening dinner.

 

Day 3 : 17 October 2015

Today is a full day of leisure to relax or explore Malta at you own pace. Breakfast and dinner in the hotel

 

Day 4 : 18 October 2015

After breakfast, we will enjoy a guided tour through the busting streets of Valletta. We will first view the Barracca Gardens that command a breathtaking panorama of the Grand Harbour. Onwards then to St. John’s Co-Cathedral, adorned in riches that date back to the times of the Knights of Malta, including the world famous Caravaggio painting that is on display in the Oratory of the cathedral. We also visit the Church Museum that is adorned with Flemish tapestries. Return to our hotel for an afternoon at leisure. Dinner in the hotel.  

 

 

Day 5 : 19 October 2015

Today is a full day of leisure to relax or explore Malta at you own pace. Breakfast and dinner in the hotel

 

Day 6 : 20 October 2015

After breakfast, we will take an excursion to the south of the island. We commence our tour with a visit to the Blue Grotto and the other grottoes from close by. We will visit the main fishing village off Marsaxlokk whose waterfront is lined with ‘Luzzus’ painted in traditional reds, blues and yellows that add colour to this peaceful bay, once the site of the first Turkish landing during the Great Siege of 1565. Return to our hotel for an afternoon at leisure. Dinner in the hotel.  

 

 

Day 7 : 21 October 2015

Today is a full day of leisure to relax or explore Malta at you own pace. Breakfast and dinner in the hotel

 

Day 8 : 22 October 2015

After breakfast, time for some last-minute shopping and sightseeing. Our flight departs Malta at 15.10 and we arrive back into Dublin at 18.15
