LADIES-ONLY CAMINO WALK
2024 Valença to Santiago
Come join a diverse group of women on this week-long Stein Travel Ladies-only group as we walk the final section of the popular Camino de Santiago route from Valença to Santiago de Compostella.
Along the journey you will experience the local culture and explore the area alongside a group of fellow female travellers.
This group is being led by Alison Boardman who is an experienced Tour Leader. Alison has accompanied many Stein Travel trips over the years and is also a 'Positive' Life Coach, teacher, entrepreneur, storyteller and musician.
Itinerary
April 21 - April 28, 2024
Sunday, April 21 - Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to Santiago. Upon arrival, you are provided with a private transfer to Valença for your overnight stay. Take the chance to stroll around the Fortaleza - the old town within a town, looking down over the River Minho.
Monday, April 22 - Morning transfer from Valença to O Porriño then walk from O Porriño to Arcade. Your day involves passing through the picturesque hamlet of Mos before reaching Redondela, a pretty place to stop for lunch. Arcade is the self-styled Galician home of oysters and you will also have the chance to take a beach stroll to watch the sun go down over the Bay of Vigo.
Tuesday, April 23 - After breakfast, we walk from Arcade to Pontevedra. Your day starts by crossing the beautiful Roman bridge from Arcade to Pontesampaio. The day allows for plenty of time to explore the old city centre of Pontevedra, centred around the Basilica de Santa Maria in Praza Ourense.
Wednesday, April 24 - After breakfast, we walk from Pontevedra to Caldas de Reis. A quiet day spent mostly on minor country roads allowing you the chance to relax in San Amaro on the way to Caldas. Caldas de Reis ("the thermal springs of the kings") takes its name from the thermal springs that are still used today.
Thursday, April 25 - Today we walk from Caldas de Reis to Padrón. Passing through possible resting points at Santa Mariña, O Pino and San Miguel, the day finishes in Padrón, a town synonymous with Camino legend. It is here that the remains of St. James are said to have been take ashore by his followers.
Padrón is also home to the Pimientos de Padrón - peppers with a random hot surprise that are a local speciality worth sampling.
Friday, April 26 - After breakfast we set off for our final days walk into Santiago. Today is all about reaching your journey's end. You pass through Escravitude, Anguira de Suso, Faramello and Milladoiro before walking the final couple of kilometres to the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela. Collect your Camino cert, the "compostela", in Santiago before enjoying all the delights of this stunning UNESCO-listed old city.
Saturday, April 27- Free day at leisure to explore Santiago de Compostela.
Sunday, April 28 - Return flight from Santiago de Compostela airport to Dublin with Aer Lingus.
The price is €1199 per person sharing.

A reasonable level of fitness is advised for the Camino. You will walk approx 100km over 5 days, so an average of 20km per day. The terrain is generally flat with some gentle slopes. If you can walk for an 30-40 minutes now at your leisure, then you will find the Camino very 'doable'. The hotel accommodation is traditional and comfortable 3* local hotels which we have used in the past many times.
