The airport is located five miles (8km) north of Rotterdam.

Information & Facts

Car Parking

The airport has three parking areas, two long-term and one short-term (directly in front of the terminal). Parking must be paid for at automatic machines before collecting your vehicle.

Car Rental

Major car rental companies such as Avis, Hertz, Budget, Sixt and Europcar have desks in the arrivals section.

City Transfers

Train: RandstadRail a high-speed train to the airport from The Hague, Leidschendam, Pijacker, Zoetermeer and Rotterdam Central Station. From the central station you can catch trains to Antwerp, Brussels and Paris. The slower national NS train service also travels around the inner city as well as to nearby towns. To use public transport, you'll need to buy a 'OV-Chipkaart' (Public Transport Chip Card) from a newsagent at the airport. Tourists can buy an anonymous OV-Chipkaart for EUR7.50 from ticket machines in all metro and train stations.

Bus: The RET bus No. 50 connects to the Meijersplein metro station where you can transfer to line E to the city centre - a round trip of about 20 minutes overall. For a more direct route, the No. 33 bus will get you to Rotterdam Central Station in about 25 minutes. The B12 line operates at night and in the early morning.

Facilities

Money and communications: 24-hour bank, ATMs and currency exchange.

Luggage: For lost luggage queries, contact the airline involved. If you've misplaced items within the terminal, head for the airport information desk.

Conference and business: There are number of airline lounges and world-class conference facilities available. The Rotterdam Airport Lounge is free to business travellers, otherwise you'll need to pay a fee on entry.

Other facilities: Post office, baby changing facilities, travel agents.

Wi-Fi: There is free wi-fi throughout the airport.

Information: There is an information desk in the terminal.

Shopping: There's a wide variety of stores, given the airports small size, including a duty-free store with the usual selection of cosmetics, accessories, liquor and tobacco products.

Food and Drink: Between the several coffee shops, self-service bars and the panoramic restaurant, you should find everything you need at Rotterdam Airport.

Language

Dutch is the official language. English is widely spoken. Fries (as well as Dutch) is spoken by the people of Friesland province.

Money

Single European currency, or Euro (EUR), is the official currency of the Netherlands, and is divided into 100 cents. Major credit cards and travellers cheques are widely accepted. To avoid additional charges take travellers cheques in Euros, Pounds Sterling or US Dollars. Foreign currency or travellers cheques can be changed at banks, post offices or bureaux de change (usually indicated by the letters GWK). Banks are closed on weekends but bureaux de change are open. ATMs are widely distributed and most are open 24 hours a day.
